Extra Virgin Coconut Oil

Is It Different from the Virgin One?

Extra Virgin Coconut Oil seems to be the best quality oil than any other types of coconut oil. If that's true, then you shouldn't miss out.

I believe you have ever seen many coconut oil products selling as Extra Virgins, while other brands just label as "Virgin Coconut Oil".

So what's the difference between the 'Extra Virgin" and the "Virgin" one?

Well, to be honest, there's no any industry standard definition or any guideline to classify the Extra Virgin Coconut Oil and Virgin Coconut Oil.

With Olive Oil grade definition , "Extra Virgin" and "Virgin" terms can be classified by the level of acidity which is presented in the oil. However, with coconut oil, the oil itself is too acidic to tell the difference between "Extra virgin" and "Virgin" ones.

The coconut oil vendors (or retailers) simply take after the olive oil industry. The term is possibly borrowed from the olive oils' and that seems to be arbitrary.

Maybe, the reason why many coconut oil vendors use the term "Extra Virgin" is because they use it as marketing ploy in order to boost the sales in their products.

They simply put the term "Extra virgin" just to tell the buyer that their coconut oil products have something more special and are better (and healthier) than other Virgin Coconut Oils.
That's it.

In my opinion, "Extra Virgin" and the " Virgin" Coconut Oil is the same in terms of the source of material and the extracting method used to produce the oil.

Here's what Dr. Bruce Fife said about the difference between virgin coconut oil, extra virgin coconut oil and just plain coconut oil...

In fact, there are only two major different types of coconut oil. There's the virgin coconut oil and the regular, or the RBD, coconut oil. RBD stands for Refined, Bleached and Deodorized.

The RBD oil is chemically processed while the virgin coconut oil is extracted by Cold-Pressed method without any chemical solvents.

So the virgin coconut oil has minimal processing and is as close to the nature as the manufacturers can make it.

And some oils are considered extra virgin. They're taking after the olive oil industry. And it just - they do this to indicate that it's least amount of processing possible. But there's no technical difference between virgin and extra virgin.

As you see, the term "Extra virgin" is just a marketing word used by the coconut oil vendors to tout the buyer around, hoping to increase the sales. After all it has no difference to the virgin coconut oil.
Still you can get the incredibly health benefits of coconut oil .

Here's more important point other than the fact about Extra Virgin Coconut Oil.

It is how to choose the best one when you are going to buy coconut oil.

If you don't know which one is the best and worth your money spent, I would suggest Nutiva Coconut Oil.

With the World's leading reputable brand of Nutiva, you can be confident in the quality and health benefits you will get from this coconut oil.
