It’s nice to know that something that’s all natural may be able to help. Look at it this way, if the risks and the costs are low, then why not? It’s always important to contact your physician before starting any new kind of alternative therapy. If the doctor says that the risk is low and will not be harmful to the patient, then why not give it a try?
Alzheimer’s Disease is a terrible disease affecting the elderly and all the people around them including family, friends, and loves ones. It is the most common form of dementia which affects everyone, not just the person suffering. It can be heartbreaking as well as frustrating when you have to watch a loved one suffer with this terrible disease, in which there is no cure for.
There was a book written by Dr. Mary T. Newport called, “Alzheimer’s Disease: What If There Was a Cure? The Story of Ketones” . She wrote this book out of her own personal experience and research for her husband who was suffering with the disease. She focused her research on a way to stop or reverse the decline of the disease affecting him.
She found in her research that ketones may help treat this disease as well as other neurological disorders including Epilepsy and Parkinson’s Disease. When the brain cannot metabolize glucose as it normally should, organic coconut oil provides an alternate source of energy for the brain by providing these ketones.
This disease impairs the brain’s ability to metabolize its primary energy source, which is glucose. Ketones are an alternate source of energy for the brain in place of glucose. C.O. provides a good source of ketones to the brain and will help to moderate the damage caused by the disease.
The medium chain fatty acids present are converted into ketones by the liver. The organs of the body, including the brain, use this energy source in place of the absent glucose.
The coconut oil is a ketone producing food providing the brain with this alternate source of energy .
Dr. Newport reported that by feeding her husband the organic coconut oil for Alzheimer’s Disease, she found that it helped to improve his short term memory and his depression. Also, an MRI done on his brain showed that it stopped shrinking.
